How long is a session?

Mini Portrait: 30 minutes  (great for younger children)

Standard Portrait: 1 hour

Extended Portrait: 2 Hours (to allow for feeds/changes and settling)

When is payment due?

The session fee is required in advance to secure your booking.  No shows/cancellations less than 48 hours before the shoot will result in loss of your payment.

Where are you located?

My studio is based in Tawa, but I’m happy to travel for on location photography within the Wellington region – but a travel fee will apply.

What is your availability?

Sessions are held Tuesdays through to Saturday, with bookings usually a month or two in advance so it pays not to leave it to the last minute to avoid disappointment.

Should I get a makeover for the photo shoot?

Yes!  A portrait session is not something you do every day so I thoroughly recommend taking advantage of one of the talented hair & makeup artists I frequently use to make you look your most fabulous for the shoot.  Just mention you’re interested when booking.

I also recommend booking these for an afternoon session, so you can go out on the town looking gorgeous afterwards!

I am nervous and have no idea how to pose – can you still get good photos?

Fear not – you won’t be a stunned possum in front of the camera!  You can relax and trust me to guide you into poses to make you look your best.

How many photos will I see?

I’ll aim to provide you with approximately 10-30 proof images (depending on the session type) at your in-person viewing appointment.

How long until the photos are ready to view?

An in-person viewing appointment is normally scheduled within two weeks of your session.

Do you edit the photos?

Absolutely!  No photo leaves the studio unedited.  All photos have basic editing done such as colour correction, eye enhancement and light blemish removal.  Photos can be converted to black and white on request.  For more extensive editing it is best to discuss at your pre or post session consultation.  As a rule I will not alter features that are distinctly ‘you’ unless asked to (birthmarks etc).  Additional charges apply for more extensive editing.

Can I have the RAW files and edit myself?

No.  I provide a full photography service from beginning to end product and don’t hand over unfinished work to others.

How long are the photos kept on file?

Photos are stored on file for a minimum of one year.

Can I buy the digital photos so I can print myself?

Digital files of images purchased are included.

What products do you sell?

Please see my Rates & Info for a list of current products.

What should I wear for my portrait session?

I’ll send you a helpful guide on how to look your best as part of the pre-shoot consultation.

I want to do a maternity session – when is the best time for this?

The best time is when the belly is large (or anywhere around 30-35 weeks).  But really it comes down to whatever works for you.

I want to have newborn photos – when is the best time for this?

Newborns are best photographed before two weeks of age, and ideally between 4-7 days old.  They still sleep a lot and are easier to pose at this time.  I recommends booking newborn before baby arrives to ensure you don’t miss out.

Will my photos be published online?

There may be some photos I wish to upload to the website or Facebook page, but full names are never disclosed for privacy reasons.  An Agreement for Photography is signed prior to the shoot so you know how the photos may be used, but requests for specific photos not to be published will be honoured.

Can I share the photos online?

Absolutely!  Please feel free to tag yourself, and share your photos online (more people get to see my work that way!)  I only ask that you don’t alter the images or crop out my logo so others can contact me.

Do you do specials or deals?

Yes – follow Angela Vidal Photography on Facebook to keep up to date with special offers and giveaways.
